1) Yes it's a good combo, almost any combo is a good combo.. almost!

2) Well Since you are using a pet, a pure ranger is fine, so maybe R/Mo for the hard rez?

I'm not sure about what you mean with pet kiting. Making the pet hold aggro?

The R/N Touch Ranger is a perfect combo for soloing, though you need to be careful with where you're soloing. Try to only take on one group at a time. For that, you need both Prophecies and Factions, though.

12 (+ Expertise headgear and Superior Expertise Rune if possible) Expertise, 12 Blood Magic
Vampiric Touch
Vampiric Bite
Offering of Blood (when you're low on E)
Throw Dirt
Distracting Shot (mainly just if you're farming monsters that use skills like Healing Signet or other ones that'd slow down your farming)
Lightning Reflexes (when attacking)
Whirling Defense (when attacking and Lightning Reflexes runs out)
Dodge

Outside of that, though, R/N's also use Mark of Pain pretty often, especially in combination with Barrage and clumped together mobs. It works even better if you have other Rs in the group with Barrage and Splinter Weapon.

Talking pet kiting

Pet or pets are holding aggro while I am sitting safley away hurting them with my long ranged attacks. Thats what I mean by pet kiting. Thanks for the help.

Isn't that pet tanking? Kiting is when you either run or strafe to avoid getting hit.

Yeah, that'd be pet tanking. It depends on which campaign(s) you have. I've mentioned some skills from all three campaigns right now, though...

Note that Enraged Lunge, Heal as One, and Rampage as One are elite skills. Also, these are only skills from Beast Mastery; I really don't cover anything about you dealing damage. I'm thinking that you might want to invest a bit in Marksmanship for something like Penetrating Attack.

First, you'd have to decide on which evolution you want your pet to have. There's Dire, Elder, or Hearty. Dire is more damage but less HP. Elder is no added/decreased damage or HP. Hearty is added HP but loser damage. You'll only have 6/8 slots left to make your skill choices, since you absolutely need to have your pet (Charm Animal) and a pet rez (Comfort Animal or Heal As One - Revive Animal isn't good.).

You'll probably need at least two or three other slots for skills like Call of Protection, Heal as One, Otyugh's Cry, and Symbiotic Bond. Predator's Pounce is nice, since it adds to the pet's damage and heals it, if the attack hits. If you use Symbiotic Bond, that forces you to bring your own healing too. In the Beast Mastery line, there's Heal as One and Predatory Bond.

This leaves anywhere from 1 - 4 slots for other skills. The pet control panel allows you to lock your pet onto a target, so you can prepare to shoot your Longbow at the enemy but back up before the shot is fired. The pet should go after the enemy. Still, it may be beneficial to bring skills that increase the pet's movement. There's Call of Haste and Rampage as One.

That's now anywhere from 0-4 slots. For those, it depends on the enemies. If they're going to be spamming heals, then you'd want to bring some interruption, whether from your pet or you. If the enemies don't have anything to remove conditions, those are excellent choices. I'm not as sure about these, but you can take a look at the skill lists on GuildWiki or GW Wiki. Some of the skills will also have additional commentary under it. There's also an outdated guide (only Prophecies skills) that rates Beast Mastery skills.

You might want to try Enraging Lunge, because it's hard to be able to allow your pet to tank long enough for you to kill the enemy without more help.

I'd really suggest trapping instead, though. It tends to be easier than try to pull high level creatures, have your pet hold aggro and try to heal it, and maybe yourself. The little pet control panel should help that, though.

You might also want to check out the pet article on GuildWiki.

I've never actually tried what you're asking about, other than levelling a White Tiger to Dire on my Monk, just for the hell of it, but I'm tempted to try one now. :P
---------------------
I took a couple minutes today to go back to the build that I was using on my Mo to level up the White Tiger. I started with the minotaurs outside of Ice Tooth Cave to level it up, then tested viability on the minotaurs outside of Elona Reach.
The pet control panel is amazing. I love the lock feature. It made it far easier. You need to avoid areas with degen, though. Farming the minotaurs outside of the Elona Reach mission is possible, though it's not the fastest.
The pet also can't aggro too many at a time, or you'll start taking too much damage. Possible Template for a R/Mo: OgMT0U7e1RWub+dZkfDn50sZA

It lacks a pet rez, because I wasn't really planning on continuing too far. I didn't need Ethereal Light at all, though I used Healing Touch for myself on my monk at times, so there's potentially another open skill slot.
